Thursday dinner was a splurge and intended to celebrate Jake’s birthday! He always has to celebrate his while we are on vacation. That will change next year--I am most deliberately scheduling vacation in August so that he can do what he wants for his birthday. We had very good food and once our free tokens for the girls and the $25 gift card were applied to the check, quite reasonable! We happened on Happy Hour and the kids got to try both Cactus Blossom and Tater Skins. They weren’t really impressed with either and we had a lot to take back to the motel. Everyone got to eat prime rib or steak and the total for all 6 of us WITH a $25 tip for our server was only $80. The next night we would spend almost as much for mediocre service and plain ol’ Pizza Hut! We managed to get some good sleep--despite cramped quarters and I actually got them up and going by the time frame that I wanted! We had breakfast at the motel promptly at 7 North Manchester time (6:00 a.m. Bismarck time). And, we were on the road an hour later!
