Honk ! Jr.

Honk Jr. is based on the Ugly Duckling. It is adorable! And this group did a wonderful job !
A few years ago, a couple of high school students had an idea for "something" for the teens in our town to do. We had just built a new combination fire/police station, and the old (archaic) fire station was empty. They thought with a little elbow grease, this place could be turned into a teen hangout.
The "Firehouse" idea caught on and grew. They worked to get donations of cash, furniture, rugs and all kinds of things. They built a stage and put together a decent sound system. With lots of ingenuity and wonderful support, they have been able to attract a few local bands for occasional concerts.
Now, the ideas have multiplied and grown for using the "firehouse" and trickled down to the younger kids! They added a "black box theater" at the back and Honk Jr. was the first production attempted. This musical was open to any children in grades 2-8.
The ensembles included chickens (yellow), ducks (orange), geese (black), and swans (white). And check out Betsy to the left in her yellow chicken vest!
This is "Ugly" the oversize duckling that honked!
And the cat that "befriended" Ugly...
