So, while we're missing Science Olympiad and Spell Bowl and Geography Bee and lots of other wonderful extracurricular academic clubs....we find ONE here in Schoolcraft!

Battle of the Books! Children sign up, are separated into teams, are given a list of books and begin their practices. All through the fall and some of the winter. They are reading, studying and quizzing each other about these books. Titles, authors and content.

The BIG day! The battle begins...

There are several rounds in this beginning battle. 6 teams take the stage each time. They are allowed to discuss the question and arrive at a joint answer that is written down. A Proxy (other team's coach) is seated at each table to monitor.

Points are scored: 1 for correct author, 5 for complete answer + author. There is a mysterious score of 3 that I still don't understand. Partially complete? I don't know.

Three teams go on to the next Battle. Sadly, our team did not advance. But they had a great score! If placed in a different round--they would have advanced.
